Movie Review

 Hey Bloggers,

I apologize for not blogging for an entire month, I have been working very hard on my inquiry ad haven't had the time to do a blog post. But anyway, we have been doing certain tasks on a rubric since swimming has made timetables quite mucky. One of these was to do a movie/book review. I did mine on the 2002 musical wonder that is Chicago. I do not recommend this movie if you are under 10 the themes are quite interesting to say the least. What Musical Movies have you watched? I would like to know!

Ki o'rahi

 Hey bloggers,

This is part 3 of Embracing our culture and this post it's about a sport called Ki O Rahi, this is a sport that is kind of like rugby, but at the same time not really.  this revolves around using your teamwork and kill to get right to the middle where the goal is. The sport's rules are different for every game, tribe, and family but there are three kinds. touch, tackle, and, rippa.  I have made an animation of how this game works, it's very basic but it may be hard to follow along so I deeply apologize for that.  but it is showing you how the game runs. have you played it before? I would love to know!

New Hangi Inventions

 Hello Bloggers,

This is rather part 2 of Embracing our culture. But instead, we are looking at the traditional way of cooking food, The hangi. Hangi Is a way of cooking food using the earth as an oven, this is demonstrated by digging a hole in the ground, putting food in little boxes, using hot stones to cook it, then putting mounds of earth on top and letting it sit there and cook for 3-4 hours.here is the link to 100% pure New Zealand if you wish to find out more.  but as you may know, technology can change even the most sacred of things, so some qualified engineers invented the Te kohatu hangi cooker. I demonstrate this in my poster that talks about how technology can change such things as hangi and what was the difference between the past and the present. there will also be a video down below on the workings of this cooker. so what do you think of this cooker? Have you ever had a hangi before?

Embracing our culture

 Hey Bloggers,

I apologize for not posting in the last couple of weeks. I have been away for most Fridays and that is when I do my weekly blog posts, but I'm here to make up for it. Recently we have been looking at international relations and for a start, we have Been looking at our very own country. Starting with New Zealand. It is important that we embrace our cultures so that we don't forget where we come from. We have been instructed to learn about three things from our culture. The haka, Ta Moko, and The Korowai. down the bottom are my answers to what I have learned in the past few days. I would like to finish off with this question and this question only, where are you from? I would love to know.

New Term

 Hey Bloggers,

It's a new term, but more than that is it's my last term here before going to Highschool. My holidays consisted mostly of laser Tag and Reading but I would also like to know about your holidays in the comments. For the first few days of term, I went to a Leaders training course that consisted of learning the 6/7 habits that a leader should develop. It was also full of fun, and complicated challenges that used a lot of teamwork. But what I am going to share is the Tessellation I did in Maths.

Tessellation is defined by a flat surface covered by one or many geometric shapes, These overlap with each other leaving no gaps in between. As you can see I did my own tessellation followed by an answer to the question, Can all triangles Tessellate?

I would now like to conclude with a question for you, what have you learned this week in maths? Did you have any problems? if so how did you overcome them?

NZSL Ninja Challenge

 Hey Bloggers,

This week is NZSL week, more than 14 years ago NZSL became an official New Zealand language (6 April 2006) I would like to give you a brief history of this wonderful language. New Zealand sign language uses a mix of English and Maori Translations, this is why it is not a universal language. The first (NZ) school of the deaf opened in 1980 in Christchurch and was called 'Sumner School of the deaf' and is still open to this day. This language. This used to be banned from being used in the 1880s, however, in 2011 Television used interpreters for the briefings after the Christchurch earthquakes. This was the first tie the interpreters were seen on screen.

To celebrate we went on this game called 'Sign Ninja' that taught us the basics (colours, numbers, food, drinks) of NZSL using a Ninja type game, then we were instructed to create a video of us saying "hello my name is_____" in sign language. Down below you can see my attempt and the sign language game that we played. Why don't you have a go at doing these challenges? What words do you know in NZSL? I would really like to know in the comments.

Our Final Rocket launch!!

 Hey Bloggers,

As you may know for the past 8 weeks we have been learning about how to design our own rocket. and recently we have been launching ours into the air, one final time. This was a great experience to have and would 100% do it again if I had the chance. Some of the things I found hard were the gluing of the fins and keeping them on during the test launches, this works its self out in the outcome because no fins came off during the last flight due to us using stronger glue. Overall my team was personally amazing and wouldn't change our group for the world. What would you call your rocket team if you had one?
