Hey guys,
This and last week in maths we have been learning different strategies in algebra to help us work out the problems. for a couple of days, we have been working on the backward strategy. The backward strategy is when you have a problem that has a part of the answer and it's your job to tackle the rest of the problem and figure out the rest of the answer. take an example where you have a problem like this (?x3)+5=20 you could either guess and check or turn you're + into - or turn your x into divide (can't do it properly) You get the basis. If you like take a try at my word problem and solve it in the comments.
I was a pupil at Marshland School and this blog is where I shared my learning. This blog has been archived, no further content will be uploaded or added. You are welcome to continue viewing posts, however commenting has been disabled.

Matariki
Hey Bloggers,
Apart from our koru, we have also been learning about Matariki, the Maori new year, This year its July 13th. My presentation follows the story of Matariki and how the seven sisters and their mother came to be. this is my second blog post for today so I may be posting a lot more frequently or maybe I'll be posting like this every Friday.

Urban Legends
Hey guys,
Last week in my literacy we were looking at the movie genre horror and all the cliche's, themes, and conventions of it. Then we got onto the convention of the 'urban legend.' This is normally used to warn the protagonists not to go somewhere or why this place is haunted, but they still go and check it out anyway. Finally, we were going to make our own (fake) urban legends. Mine's hard to explain so I encourage you to read it, what did you think? is there stuff that I need to improve on?

“The crying angel”
In the 1400s there once was a little girl who lived in a nunnery. Being raised by widows many townsfolk there may be some sort of witchcraft going on. The place wasn’t lavish it was run down and old, nothing that anyone should be living in. but there was one statue there that had two angels holding Jesus Christ as a baby. One day some townsfolk chopped off the heads of the two angels and blamed the young girl for it. She was later hanged while her body hanged in town, they built a statue of a hanging angel warning rebellious girls who dare to compete with Jesus. Legend has it if you are over the age of 10 and touch the statue it has seemed that you would be accused of witchcraft and hanged within six months, no matter the gender. When you do the angel will cry blood as a cry for help.

Ascii (pt 2)
Hey guys,
This is sort of part two but I finally have a photo of my beads. To be honest I choose the colors due to the lack of time we had to finish them. I think this was a very fun task and I would like to try it with other letters and names.

Ascii and binary
Hey bloggers,
we have been learning about ASCII, Binary is a number system that uses 1’s and 0’s to represent all of our normal set of numbers. You can use the place values as multiples of 2 to work out how to do it for yourself! Try watching this video to give it a go yourself.

ASCII is a set of encoded symbols that a computer uses to turn Binary into letters and other symbols from the English language the letters I have are A and C. The numbers I have are 1 and 3 and can be changed into 1000001 and 1000011. after I turned my initials into binary numbers then I Used colors to represent the 1’s and 0’s, my initials in ASCII were going to be here however I took it home and I am unable to get a photo currently so I will post it tomorrow.

Discovering wolrd probelms through art
Hey Bloggers,
For this week apart from learning about different types of irony, we have also been learning about how different art can mean different things revolving about our global issues. For example, we went round in groups of three and went through several pieces of art revolving around racism, Global warming, and pollution. most of these were street artists and then we had to decide one to write about. I did a brilliant piece of art revolving around the world hunger. what global issue are you most concerned about?

Siapo art
Hey Bloggers,
For the last week, we have been working on our Siapo art or we could technically call them cloths. Siapo is the Samoan word for fine cloth and is made from materials such as bark from the Paper Mulberry trees, this can also be called masi. these are dyed and woven into a certain pattern usually to represent something important to them. These cloths are used as floor mats, bedding, room dividers, and clothing. I did a side by side comparison of a real siapo and the one I created. Have you done anything like this before?

Week mashup
Hey guys,
How are you doing? This mashup is mostly going to be about my inquiry, We are doing Global issues. We get to choose a problem and create a visual piece for it. I'm doing goal 8 from the United Nations 17 goals by the year 2030. That is Decent Work and Economic growth. for years our economy has been struggling due to it being helped by low-interest rates that later leave inflation to finances like the bank. also, I finally have got my koru artwork completed and I'm ready to show you, unfortunately, my adobe spark is not completed so I won't be posting that instead I will be posting it later. ( sorry I can't change the order of the slides)

Diffrent types of Irony
Hi bloggers
Today we were learning about the different types of Irony. from Dramatic to situation and verbal irony. We also had to demon straight one of the many forms in a way, this way was a short comic strip. Me Ngawai did Situational irony when something is not what it seems. I'm a little embarrassed about my faces throughout this but either side of the spectrum we are all going to be embarrassed at some point. What did you think?
