Last week in my literacy we were looking at the movie genre horror and all the cliche's, themes, and conventions of it. Then we got onto the convention of the 'urban legend.' This is normally used to warn the protagonists not to go somewhere or why this place is haunted, but they still go and check it out anyway. Finally, we were going to make our own (fake) urban legends. Mine's hard to explain so I encourage you to read it, what did you think? is there stuff that I need to improve on?
“The crying angel”
In the 1400s there once was a little girl who lived in a nunnery. Being raised by widows many townsfolk there may be some sort of witchcraft going on. The place wasn’t lavish it was run down and old, nothing that anyone should be living in. but there was one statue there that had two angels holding Jesus Christ as a baby. One day some townsfolk chopped off the heads of the two angels and blamed the young girl for it. She was later hanged while her body hanged in town, they built a statue of a hanging angel warning rebellious girls who dare to compete with Jesus. Legend has it if you are over the age of 10 and touch the statue it has seemed that you would be accused of witchcraft and hanged within six months, no matter the gender. When you do the angel will cry blood as a cry for help.
